If your voice is tired and hoarse or if you’re trying to recover from laryngitis, sometimes a great way of getting some relief is steam your voice.

Boil a large kettle of water and pour into a large bowl. Leave the water to cool slightly. Cover your head with a towel and lean over the bowl, slowly inhaling and exhaling allowing the steam to rise into your face. It is important that you don’t add anything to the water as it could irritate the vocal folds further.

The steam will get directly to the vocal folds lubricating and warming the folds to soothe, relax and heal.

Steam your voice a few times a day and rest it with no talking or whispering and you should begin to feel some relief.
